Tubal Ligation Reversal - Returning to Normalcy from Ligation

Tubal ligation is a form of contraception adopted by women. It's carried out in a surgical procedure that involves the tying up/ cutting off of the fallopian tubes as a temporary means to prevent conception. However, when you wish to terminate this condition you need to undergo tubal reversal, another surgical procedure that involves the untying of the tubes to permit conception again. This procedure is known as tubal ligation reversal too.

For tubal reversal to be possible there are certain pre-conditions. Firstly, the tubes should be healthy and should not have been totally removed and age should be in your favor. Secondly, your partner's sperms must be healthy and the sperm-count must be adequate. If these conditions are met then specialists can carry out tubal ligation reversal as an outpatient surgical procedure. Otherwise IVF is recommended in most cases as an alternative. However, the success rate of conception following a ligation reversal could be as high as 70%.

In Vitro Fertilization- Success Rates & Cost

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the most effective and successful medical procedures for helping couples conceive. For those with difficulty in conceiving naturally, IVF provides a new ray of hope.

About IVF cost
Most of us lack adequate knowledge about the process. We also worry about IVF cost and often keep away from opting for the procedure. This is unfortunate as IVF has, over the years, become very affordable and safe.

IVF is probably the most well known of the "Assisted Reproductive Technologies." Originally popularized as "test tube baby," IVF has helped couples overcome infertility for more than two decades. IVF, which was initially developed to treat tubal factor infertility, has evolved to become the treatment of choice for many other causes of infertility including: unexplained infertility, male factor infertility, immunologic problems and others.

About IVF success rates
IVF success rates are very high and when one chooses to undergo the procedure under the supervision of a trained surgeon, there is actually little to worry about.

Is IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) expensive?

Tubal Reversal and In vitro fertilization are the latest proven techniques that are known to result in successful pregnancies and delivery of babies. Across the world, millions of childless couples have resorted to these techniques to have healthy babies that have brought smiles and happiness in their lives. While tubal reversal is known to reverse the effects of tubal ligation process thereby redeeming the fertility of a woman, the In vitro fertilization is the only way out if tubal legation reversal is not the right solution for the patient. It helps those women to enjoy the joys of motherhood, who were unable to conceive for myriad reasons.

However, there are still many who are shy of trying out these methods thinking that they are prohibitively expansive. While it is true that fertility treatments including the Tubal reversal and IVF are on the higher side of the cost scale due to being highly sophisticated in nature, but significant improvement in technology has also brought down the costs considerably. Especially in IVF or In vitro fertilization, the increasing accuracy of each attempt has ensured that prospective parents have to spend less than ever before.

A Brief on Embryo Transfer

Embryo transfer technique is the most important part of IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure. If the physician fails to properly perform the embryo transfer or some other lapses occur, the IVF procedure will fail. Thus, it is necessary to take help of the best and experienced infertility doctors to increase the chances of a successful IVF procedure.

The process

The woman going through the IVF is first stimulated with medicines to produce multiple eggs which develop in the follicles. Eggs are removed from the ovary after proper maturity of the follicles to perform egg aspiration techniques. After four or five hours of egg aspiration, sperm is mixed with the egg. The fertilized egg (Embryo) is cultured for a period of 1 to 5 days and after that, an appropriate number of embryos are placed in the uterus of the woman.

Infertility doctors decide on the embryo to be transferred in the uterus after assessing the quality of the embryos or fertilized eggs. The whole process is complicated and it needs to be performed with utmost care.

Gender Prediction While Conceiving

An accurate method of predicting unborn baby’s gender is by medical test known as amniocentesis. It’s an invasive prenatal test that is performed by specialized infertility doctors to test mutations and to find out a baby’s gender. Gender prediction can also be done using ultrasound.

Couples may be interested in gender prediction to avoid gender specific genetic mutation present in one of the parents. For example, certain genetic mutations are carried in the X chromosomes, like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. If the mother has this genetic mutation in her X chromosome, then there is a 50% chance of having an affected male offspring while the female offspring would be unaffected. Baby gender is also found out for the purpose of family balancing.

One can contact a qualified infertility doctor to guide them about the various treatment, precautions to be taken and consequences of the same. Even in case of infertility treatments, the gender prediction can be done. One needs to talk about it with the infertility doctors of the clinic.

Baby’s Gender Selection- conceive what you want

Baby’s gender can be determined before its birth and many parents are interested in using this technique. If you too are a parent keen to know about your baby’s gender then ask your infertility doctors for more information about it. Various techniques like microsort, preimplantation gentic diagnosis, shettles method, ericsson albumin method etc are known for gender selection of the baby. This is for those who want to conceive any one of the specific sex and also if one wants to get twins for the same sex or of different genders. It can be helpful in avoiding the birth of a baby with genetic diseases (that are prone to occur in certain genders).

The studies have proved that almost 86% of these techniques are successful. One can also go for specific diets in order to maintain a ph balance and supplements and other precautions suggested by the infertility doctors for the selection of baby’s gender.

Gender Selection techniques – Natural Gender Selection

A baby’s gender selection is usually done not to discriminate but to avoid any gender specific mutation that is present in one of the parents. Some genetic disorders are specific to either one of the genders. For example, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy results from one such genetic mutation on the X chromosome (a type of sex chromosome). Now, if the to-be mother happens to carry the mutation (irrespective of her being affected by the disease) on one of her X chromosomes, then there is a chance of 50% of the male child being affected with the genetic disorder, while the female child faces no such harm. This is just one such example and there are other genetic disorders of concern too. In the given example, the couple would find it best to opt for a female embryo. A couple should always consult qualified infertility doctors about these issues before it’s too late to take appropriate medical action. The infertility doctors are qualified and thus would help you in baby gender prediction that would be most accurate.

About Tubal Reversals & In-vitro Fertilization

Tubal reversals or ‘Tubal Ligation Reversal’ or ‘Tubal Sterilization Reversal’ is a procedure performed to restore the fertility of women, by untying/rejoining the fallopian tubes which were tied/cut earlier in a procedure called tubal ligation. Thus, tubal reversal is simply the reversal of the tubal ligation surgery. The surgery is a delicate one and requires an experienced surgeon.

The chances of naturally conceiving are higher after the reversal, however in case of any problem other options such as In Vitro Fertilization are always there to help you enjoy motherhood once again.

In vitro fertilization or IVF is an assisted reproduction process of fertilizing the egg cells by sperm, outside the female womb. The embryo thus formed is transplanted to the female womb (uterus). Generally at a time placement of 2-4 embryos is done. It is one the most successful procedure for treatment of infertility. In-vitro fertilization is a treatment for a woman with blocked, critically damaged or absent fallopian tubes.

Tubal reversal – for Restoring fertility in Women

Infertility is a major area of concern for most couples. Tubal reversal, IVF, and egg donation are few prominent methods that have been developed to address this problem. The various fertility clinics today are well equipped and have the required expertise to perform these procedures and help the couples conceive.

Couples/women often opt for tubal ligation in order to avoid unwanted pregnancy but the choice might change and they may want to conceive again. tubal ligation reversal is the only way to restore fertility in such women. Tubal ligation reversal refers to a process which is performed on the women who had their fallopian tubes severed as part of sterilization process (i.e. the reverse process of tubal ligation). The viability of the procedure depends on the medical condition of the patient. The tubes are reconnected or joined through surgery.

The success rate of tubal reversal depends on different factors such as the age of the woman, the condition of the fallopian tubes, sperm count and quality and other medical conditions. After the surgery, the patient is kept under observation and later medications are prescribed.

About the IVF Procedure

Whatever be the IVF cost, the high success rates of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) have increased its popularity and is considered a major treatment for infertility.

Process: In this process, the sperm fertilizes the egg cells outside the womb. It is a long process where the ovulation is controlled through the balancing of hormones. The eggs are then removed from the ovaries of the woman and fertilized with the sperm. Thereafter, the fertilized egg or zygote is placed within the uterus of the woman and a successful pregnancy is anticipated.

The IVF cost may vary from country to country and is the highest in the developed nations. It is mostly used in cases where the women suffer from problems of fallopian tubes and/or if there is male infertility due to poor sperm quality or low sperm count. The process of In Vitro Fertilization is generally attempted when other less expensive treatments have failed.

Treating infertility with In vitro fertilization

The number of couples seeking In vitro fertilization is increasing considerably. And, just like all markets governed with the dynamics of demand and supply, to cater to this increasing demand more and more clinics have started offering these treatments. Consequently, the IVF costs have also gone down significantly.

Understanding In Vitro fertilization

To discern the IVF costs, it is important to understand what the process entails. The subject (female) is kept under observation to figure out her menstrual patterns. When menstrual cycles can be predicted, the subject is given hormonal injections so as to stimulate her reproductive system to produce more eggs.

Later these eggs are retrieved and fertilized with male sperms under laboratory conditions. The eggs are then allowed to develop into embryos which are selected and transferred to the womb for natural gestation.

This is one complete cycle of In Vitro Fertilization, and different clinics charge different rates for each stage. You can select them according to their efficiency and sophistication.

Go for Tubal Reversal - for Successful Conception after Ligation

Tubal reversals refer to the procedures carried out on women who have earlier had their fallopian tubes tied surgically to achieve sterilization. The reversal may be required when the woman has a desire to conceive. This would necessitate a tubal reversal in case she qualifies for the procedure. However, tubal reversals could be ruled out as an option when the sperm count is low or tubes had been totally removed previously.

Infertility specialists who are qualified and well trained in reproduction surgery that includes tubal reversal conduct this procedure the success rate of which is dependent on the woman’s age, the quality of the sperms and the condition of the fallopian tubes. The procedure conducted by the infertility specialists has a good success rate in conception in majority of the cases. Parenthood is, therefore, quite possible in those cases of tubal reversal where the woman’s tubes are intact; she is young and the quality of sperms is good.

Importance of Gender Selection in Detecting Genetic Abnormality

Gender selection has an important role in identifying genetic abnormality. Infertility clinics carry it out in order to detect genetic mutation that has happened to the fetus. Genetic mutation is a condition wherein genetic disorder may get transmitted to offspring from any of its parent and most of these genetic mutations are gender specific.

If any of the parents is carrying mutated gene in their chromosome, the child has 50% chance of suffering from this mutated chromosome. However, as most of the genetic mutations are gender specific, gender selection helps in the identification of gender abnormality.

Infertility clinics that have a team of specialists can help you in this process. The most commonly practiced genetic make-up analysis techniques for the identification of genetic abnormalities are pre-implementation genetic diagnosis, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Among this, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis is done prior to implantation, while all other techniques are done after the implantation of the embryo into the uterus. If the embryo is detected with abnormalities, such pregnancy has to be terminated.

Does Natural Gender Selection method work?

Many couples wish to perform gender selection of their unborn child. However, instead of going to infertility clinics for scientific methods, they opt for traditional and supposedly natural methods. These so-called natural methods meant to select the gender of the unborn baby are not scientifically proven and are found to err.

There are many reasons why a couple may resort to gender selection. One reason may be that they have all offspring of one gender and they want to balance their family with both male and female children. Another more common reason is that either of the spouse may be the carrier of a genetic disorder, which may be more likely to manifest in one gender than the other. The couple does not want their offspring to be a carrier of or sufferer of that genetic disorder hence they want to avoid the gender which is more likely to have that disorder. Whatever be the reason, the only reliable means of identifying the gender of the fetus is the scientific method performed at infertility clinics that subscribe to modern methodologies.

Calculating risks and benefits before In-Vitro Fertilization

For parents who can not conceive naturally due to some problem, in-vitro fertilization come of immense help. This process allows the sperm of the father and the egg of the mother to be fertilized in a laboratory and then put back in the ovary of a woman who can carry it. The chance of success in case of In-Vitro Fertilization depends upon a number of factors. They are age of the mother, health of the woman who will carry the fertilized egg and the expertize of the doctor involved in the whole process. Mothers under age of thirty five have a brighter success rate. Sometimes, the result may be more than one babies also.

However, In-Vitro Fertilization and embryo transfer are not totally free from risks. The most common side effect of this fertilization process is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). This is caused due to the fertility drugs associated with the process. Second risk of this fertilization process is that there is no 100% guarantee of success. It is really depressing for any couple to try and wait for several months only to have a failed In-vitro. Hence, you are advised to analyze the pros and cons properly before going for the In-Vitro Fertilization.

Is non-clinical gender selection reliable?

Many couples resort to gender selection of the unborn child because they have all offspring of one gender and want to balance their family with an offspring of the opposite gender. Although clinical gender selection is performed by qualified doctors in infertility clinics, many people prefer non-clinical methods for selecting the gender of the fetus. However, these methods have no scientific basis and are at the most unreliable.

Gender selection by clinical methods performed at infertility clinics, on the other hand, is reliable. Clinical methods for selecting the gender of the unborn child include Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), Amniocentesis and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. All these methods are invasive methods and out of them pre-implantation genetic diagnosis is performed before the embryo is implanted in the uterus, whereas, CVS and amniocentesis are performed much afterwards. These methods also help in detecting genetic anomalies like Down’s syndrome, Trisomy, Thalassemia, Turner’s syndrome et al.

All you need to know about In-Vitro Fertilization

In vitro diagnostics require many tests which should be performed at the prescription of an infertility treatment specialist. Once these tests are done, it is ascertained that the patient is fit to undergo the in vitro fertilization treatment. There are four steps involved in in-vitro fertilization treatment.

After the in vitro diagnostics are performed, the infertility treatment begins. The first step involves medication which enhances multiple ovulations. The second step involves the monitoring of the egg growth and uterine lining development through ultrasound. This is when a trigger shot of human Chorionic Gonadotropin is administered. After this, the eggs are retrieved and placed in a dish along with the washed sperm specimen and left to incubate. Once fertilized the embryos are further incubated for development into multi-cell embryos. These embryos are then transferred into the uterus with the help of a catheter inserted through the cervix. The embryos can also be stored for future use.

IVF Clinics - How Not to Get Exploited

Infertility is a sensitive subject. A large number of couples would like to go to fertility clinics to seek an end to their individual causes of infertility with the ultimate materialization of their hope of having a baby. You have to be cautious while selecting the right fertility clinic. You should firstly select a clinic with a consistently high success rate that is around 50%. Secondly the clinic should carry out invitro diagnostics efficiently. These techniques determine the cause of infertility and indicate the best method of treating it.

In vitro fertilization is achieved in four steps that must be carried out meticulously. These are ovarian stimulation, monitoring of eggs and uterine lining, retrieval of eggs and the final incubation with the sperm. The number of embryos is age dependent. Finally, the ivf cost is pertinent. The cost would of course vary depending on the number of ivf cycles and the age of the patient.

The in-Vitro Fertilization Procedure

In-vitro fertilization is the scientifically advanced method of fertilizing egg cells by sperms outside the womb. Genetically disordered and infertile couples can benefit from this procedure. To begin the treatment, a woman has to undergo laparoscopic surgery which is a part of in-vitro diagnostics. A laparoscope is inserted into the navel. More than one incision may be required for insertion of other instruments.

The in-vitro fertilization process is basically completed in five stages. The donor is given hormonal medications to retrieve multiple eggs to begin the process. Generally three classes of drugs are given during this period. The size of the egg follicles is determined using in-vitro diagnostics technique such as an ultrasound and blood testing. A needed is inserted into the vagina to suction out the mature egg follicles. A viable egg is placed in an incubator and later fertilized with the man’s sperm. The next stage of embryo transplant takes place after this procedure.
