Gender Planning - How Safe and Ethical?

In much parts of the world, "gender planning" is a term that synonyms to punishable offense and yet a process practiced in discreet. The preference for sons over daughters has resulted in tilting the balance of gender ration to more males in many parts of Asia and Africa.

Gender planning is safe and legal some parts of Western world, including the US. Most families would like to be allowed some choice through gender selection so they can "balance" their families better. It is natural for parents to want a girl baby after having two boys, or the other way round. Baby gender has always been a topic of debate; so much so that it is tough to filter the facts from myths.

Today, gender planning starts in a petridish in a laboratory. The basic idea is that since two X choromosomes (one from each parent) create girls, and one X chromosome (from the mother) and one Y chromosome (from the father) results in a boy baby, gender selection is made possible by professional intervention.

At least a proper gender planning is far better than the act of killing a baby girl.
