When we talk about fertility and reproductive services egg donation comes under third party reproduction methods. An egg donor is a women who supplies many eggs (or ova) for another woman or couple who is trying to conceive. The donor has to obtain these eggs and once completed in vitro fertilization takes place within the lab.
The process of egg donation has particularly become popular among women especially older women who cannot conceive on their own since the eggs cannot be fertilized. Many couples bring their own donors while others visit the agencies supplying anonymous donors. Once selected the donors are carefully screened. On recruiting the donor she undergoes in vitro fertilization process which is then followed by egg retrieval. On completion the ova is fertilized by a male sperm sample from the male in dish. After many days the resultant embryo is positioned the uterus of the recipient female. Finally woman carries the child till delivery.
